Overview
While Melon Brawler 2 worked extremely well, and with the V2.1 armor package making it a lot more resilient than V2.0, it did not need a redesign. However, I was about ready to graduate from my engineering degree and would be soon unable to utilize the CREO student license. In addition, I wanted to be able to legally sell forks and other parts I made for it. I tried some other cad packages (Alibre, BricsCad, Onshape), but Fusion had the best blend of usability and price. V3's initial iteration was hammered out in two evenings when I really should have been doing homework. It's extremely similar to V2, so rather than explain what is different it might be better to explain what is different.
Differences from V2
- Made in Fusion 360 instead of CREO
- Lids have access hatches for quick battery replacements (similar to Doc Hollizontal)
- wheelguards are attached via screws from top/bottom instead of through the sides to reduce catch points
- forkmounts and wheelguards are held in with plastite screws instead of nuts
- Flatbottom forks include lightweighting cutouts
